Overview
Labs Quantum is a collection of 10,000 eyes on Robinhood Chain. An eye is minted closed. It opens when its batch has been run on a quantum processor: one shot of a 36-qubit circuit gives 36 bits, and those bits decide every trait and the background.
The art and the metadata are generated by a contract, from the bits. There is no image server.
The circuit
Every batch runs the same circuit. It has three registers.
| Register | Qubits | Operations | Gives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trait | 23 | one Ry rotation per qubit | each bit reads 1 with a published probability |
| Schrödinger | 5 | Ry, then a chain of 4 CX | all 0, or all 1 about once in 243 |
| Interference | 8 | H, Rz, 7 CZ between neighbours, H | 256 patterns with very different odds |
The circuit is defined by one file, experiment.json. Its sha256 is written on chain when a batch is sealed, so the circuit a batch must run is fixed before the job exists.
Hardware accepts only its own gates (rz, sx, cz) between coupled qubits. The oracle reads the processor's calibration, places the two entangled registers on the best lines of coupled qubits, and rewrites every gate. The rewrite is tested to give the same measurement distribution as the published circuit.
From bits to an eye
Bit q of a token's DNA is the measured value of qubit q.

| 28 – 35 | Fringe | one diagonal band per bit |
The site and the contract draw from the same generated tables, in the same order. The tests compare the two outputs byte for byte.
Batches
Mints wait for the next batch, about every 30 minutes. A batch has four steps, each a transaction.
| Step | What is written | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Sealed | token range, circuit hash | each eye's shot number is fixed before any job exists |
| Bound | job id, processor | one job per batch, attached once |
| Resolved | sha256 of the archive, hash of the batch's measurements | the results cannot change afterwards |
| Revealed | 36 bits per eye | the contract refuses bits that differ from what was committed, or a different order |
Eye number N of a batch that starts at S receives shot N − S.
Verifying an eye
Trace does this in your browser, with no wallet: it reads the receipt from the chain, downloads the batch archive, and checks six things.
- The archive's sha256 is the one committed on chain.
- The batch was sealed against the published circuit file.
- The job and processor in the archive match the receipt.
- The eye's bits are the shot at its number.
- The job was bound before results were written.
- The batch ran on hardware, not on a simulator.
What you have to trust
- That the job ran on a quantum processor. The archive names the job and the processor; only the hardware provider's own record can confirm it, and that record needs an account with access to the instance.
- That the oracle did not run several jobs and keep one. The contract allows one bound job per batch, but it cannot see jobs that were never bound.
- Hardware is noisy. Real odds differ from the ideal ones shown on this site, including for the rare branch.
- The contracts are not audited.
What nobody can do, oracle included: change an eye after its reveal, reorder shots inside a batch, or reveal bits that differ from the committed results.
Token and payment
An eye costs 100,000 $LABS. The whole payment goes to the treasury in the mint transaction. The contract never holds tokens. The token address is written once; minting is closed until it is.
